When I first got into public speaking, it was intimidating. I was intimidated not because I wasn’t confident in speaking or presenting my material, it was because I had some habits like saying “um” too many times in a sentence, going into long-winded conversations deviating from the topic and sometimes, a negative thought would pop-up about how I don’t look good enough to be in front of an audience, or even things like how the audience probably knows more about the topic than what I am presenting. In reality, none of it matters as long as you are standing there confidently and delivering your content. To improve my confidence, I wrote down things that I should improve on under three categories: Mindset, Productivity, and Physical habits.
Mindset habits are activities that help you stay positive and motivated. For me, reading the quote about positive thinking as my morning affirmation helps. I know that if I stay positive and keep pushing forward, I will be able to overcome any challenges.
